On the Development of an Intelligent Poly(aniline-co-o-toluidine)/Fe3O4/Alkyd Coating for Corrosion Protection in Carbon Steel

The corrosion of metals and alloys presents a significant challenge in many industries, demanding constant maintenance, thereby increasing costs. In response to this problem, the smart protection coating has emerged as promising solution. By enabling immediate detection of, to, environmental changes, such temperature pH, these coatings contribute significantly extending material’s lifespan, reducing maintenance expenses. study, nanomagnetic [poly(aniline-co-o-toluidine)/Fe3O4] systems were prepared used self-healing inhibitor, mixed with alkyd paint at different weight percentages (5–25%). composites on carbon steel (C1010), their performance was tested 0.1 mol/L HCl, using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), scanning electron microscope (SEM), FTIR analyses. results showed an adequate inhibition for developed composites, compared alone, reaching efficiency 80% 20 wt.% composite. Adding paints led increase resistance, accompanied by remarkable decrease double-layer capacitance. Thus, show excellent potential formulation paints.
